Application Express and eBusiness Suite

Application Express is a rapid web development set of tools based on the original OWA/WebDB. It’s been a long time since then and APEX as it is now known has just been updated to version 3.0.1 and is compatible with Oracle Database 10g Express Edition.

Oracle eBusiness Suite is an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) geared towards mid to big size companies. Current release of Oracle eBusiness Suite, Rel 12, now ships with the 10g technology stack for both Database and Application server tiers which is a good thing especially since 10gR2 features the Embeded Pl/Sql Gateway required to run APEX using the native XML DB Http Server.

If you are running Oracle eBusiness Suite 11i (with Oracle RDBMS 10gR2) or 12 and want to integrate APEX then read on.

Things you will need:

First you will need to ensure you have XML DB properly configured. Open a terminal session to your Oracle Applications server and login as the Oracle owner. Issue the lsnrctl status command and check for a listener named after your ORACLE_SID plus XDB:
